Hello all Looking for any information re the immigration of a Mr Peter CARRINGTON who arrived in Australia c1828. He was born in Liverpool, England, c1808. He married in Nov 1853 Trinity Church, Adelaide SA, to Charlotte DRINKWATER. Their marriage certificate states that he was a 45 y.o. bachelor and that his occupation was a smith. Charlotte was 29 and I have traced her arrival to the ship "Marion" which arrived in Adelaide in Feb 1849 from England. She was apparently born in Ireland. Peter died in Wentworth NSW in 1886 and his death certificate states that he had been in the Colony of NSW for 57 years. I have been unable to locate any trace of him arriving in Adelaide, so am now looking to Sydney and other ports. Also, I understand that the date of 1828 would have been unlikely for a SA arrival. Is there a chance that he may have been a convict? If he did arrive in Syd or Melb, would there be a record of him having travelled (if by ship) to Adelaide? Any info much appreciated.
