    3. Hello All I have appreciated the past assistance from readers of this site in helping identify my ancestry, new information to hand requires research of Victorian records I once again would welcome assistance. The back ground is I originally believed my GG Grandfather Michael Forrestall (forrester) and wife Catherine DÁrcy (Dorsey) emigrated from Ireland to Adelaide as a married couple in about 1868. Fresh information from a family member would suggest this could be incorrect and the following may be the correct information. Michael Forrester aged 20 accompanied by Mary Ann Forrester aged 20, could be a sister, arrived Melbourne Aug 1875 on board ship Mermaid. I believe this information is contained in fish no 120 page 003, assume this is from state library records. Michael Forrester married Catherine Dorsey in 1865, no idea where this is recorded. My research indicate the ship Mermaid made a number of trips to Aust during this period, however I have been unable to locate an arrival in Aug 1875. or any passenger listings. I would very much appreciate if someone in Melbourne could research and verify this information. Thanks Colleen

    3. G'day Colleen, I can't help with the Melbourne arrivals but I have the following details from S.A. Michael FORRESTAL(sic) was born 21st November, 1842 and died on 16th March, 1917 and was buried at West Terrace Cemetery. He was a Roman Catholic and a Boilermaker's Assistant. He arrived prior to 1871 and lived in Adelaide. He married Cath D'Arcy who was born in 1843 and died on 18th May, 1919. I can find 10 children viz Mary Ann 1864- , Kate 1868- , Sarah 1870- , Ellen 1870- , Bridget 1871-, Edward 1873-, John 1875- , James 1879-1881, Elizabeth 1880-1942 and Teresa 1882-. Cath appears to have been known as Kate or Catherine with a surname of DORSTAY, DORCEY or DORSEY. I have also seen Michael recorded as FORSTER John married Mary THOMAS in 1900 - at least 3 children Ellen married Ernest William PIKE in 1892 Teresa/Theresa married William Alexander ELLIS in 1914 Kate married John James OWENS in 1894 - at least 6 children Mary Ann married William James HUNT in 1902 - at least 2 children Sarah married Edward WEISEMEYER in 1907 Bridget married Edwin GIBBS in 1895 E. & O. E. Regards, Chris in Adelaide P.S. If Michael arrived in Melbourne in 1875 aged 20 he would have been 10 years of age when he married in 1865!!! -----Original Message----- From: aus-immigration-ships-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:aus-immigration-ships-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Ron Parker Sent: Saturday, 29 September 2007 10:57 AM To: aus-immigration-ships@rootsweb.com Subject: [AUS-IMM-SHIPS] Forrestall Hello All I have appreciated the past assistance from readers of this site in helping identify my ancestry, new information to hand requires research of Victorian records I once again would welcome assistance.
