Hi, Can anyone help in finding when James LOWE and Janet Smart JEFFREY (and possibly her sister Jane/Jean Hill JEFFREY) came to Tasmania from Scotland. James and Janet married at Launceston on 23 Feb 1857 and their son, James Robert was born 22 Nov 1857. James senior was a schoolmaster on the birth reg. James was born about 1825 and Janet about 1842, according to their death certificates. They came to Dunedin/Otago, New Zealand about 1866, again, according to their death certificates. I have looked on the ShipsList and tried various rootsweb archives. Is there a Tasmanian state archive I could access on the internet? Many thanks. Rosemary Tearle Far North New Zealand.
