    1. [AUS-IMM-SHIPS] Assisted Migrants-on Castle Eden

    3. Hi List I have been following the "Fairlee" postings and found the suggested site on the Sydney General Trade List and Shipping Gazette very interesting and helpful. My GGGrandfather was on the "Castle Eden" and arrived October 1848 with his wife and children, 1 died on route. He was listed as a shepherd and they were assisted immigrants. Anyway my question is how do I find out who sponsored his migration to Australia? as his whereabouts from the time of arrival up until 1854 is unknown. I know that his wife, Jane had co-habitated with another man by the end of 1850 and was living in Dalby Qld and I think Alexander may have been in Qld prior to that and then the next record of him is in 1854 where he had a bigamist marriage to another in Maitland and then moving to Ginninderra Creek in the Yass area in which I assume he was still a shepherd and sometimes a gold digger. So I guess I am trying to find out if there is a list of people who sponsored the migrants for their fare and also if there is immigration list from NSW to Qld? Regards Sharon
