    3. Hi Lynne, A big thankyou for your help re "Fairlie" records 1848. The Shipping Gazette site was interesting. Coincidentally I had browed that site tonight, but had overlooked the Fairlie entry, so was glad you directed me straight to it. I would have missed it. I notice it stated the "agent" was the captain, Davis. What does this mean do you know? Can anyone advise how I would find more out about Davis's activities as agent. I'd like to know what these agents did re finding the passengers in the first place. My gggrandmother Janet was from Scotland and was an "assisted immigrant"-not sure what that means either. How can I find out where they went to after leaving "Fairlie"? Suppose they would have gone to the Female Immigration Depot? Kind regards, Susan NSW.
