I haven't done any research on families arriving in Australia and would like some suggestions on where to start. I'm hoping for some advice on where to find information on the COWLAND family. Are thre website or is it better to look at films? William Unwin COWLAND Susannah COWLAND and their children Charles Arnold and William Henry left Essex after 1853 and arrived in Ballarat before 1857. regards Barbara

Barbara, found this in the Vic records COWLAND CHARLES 40 DEC 1856 SEVERN 12 245 COWLAND SARAH 41 DEC 1856 SEVERN 12 245 COWLAND ALFRED 18 DEC 1856 SEVERN 12 249 COWLAND CHARLOTTE 14 DEC 1856 SEVERN 12 251 COWLAND THOMAS 13 DEC 1856 SEVERN 12 251 COWLAND GEORGE 9 DEC 1856 SEVERN 12 245 COWLAND HENRY 6 DEC 1856 SEVERN 12 245 I know the names are not a match, but this is all I could find. Bear in mind that names changedand people often used second names or family pet names.
