G'day List, Being encouraged by the information that Lynne has provided to others I am encouraged to ask a question that for years I have believed could only be answered by a massive time consuming search. Sometime towards the end of the Great War but prior 21st August, 1922 a widow Ruth JONES nee MIDDLETON (born in Kent in 1883) and her daughter Dorothy Julia JONES (born in London in 1907) arrived in Australia. I'm assuming they arrived in Sydney although Ruth had another child in Mannum, South Australia in 1922. Ruth's occupation had been as a cook & I have not ruled out the possibility that she may have worked her passage if that could be done in those days. I don't believe there were any friends or relatives in Australia to sponsor them & I am of the opinion that finances would have been quite stretched for a single mother in those times. Is it possible to find these people in immigration records or from immigration agents' records? Regards Chris in Adelaide
