    3. Thanks, Lynne The Atalanta entry is mine. I was already aware of this but the other PROV entries don't gel with my other information which locates them in NSW by 1870 for the two women (both married in Sydney). I will have another look at the 1907 ORIENT entry for Harold CORBETT, but he is known to have been in Sydney in 1914. He is buried in Waverly Cemetery 1918. I will cross check with UK shipping records for the ORIENT. The issue of finding easily accessible NSW shipping records for the period I am looking at is a problem. Many thanks again Trevor Melbourne Lynne Radford wrote: > Hi Trevor, > The Victorian Record Office online > http://proarchives.imagineering.com.au/default.htm > has > CORBETT HAROLD 16 JAN 1907 ORIENT B 751 003 > > > > there are few Joseph's arriving during 1890-1916-period > > CORBETT ELIZTH 19 JUL 1867 ATALANTA B 268 005 > > > > CORBETT JANE 19 JAN 1859 ANNIE WILSON B 157 003 > CORBETT JANE 24 OCT 1864 SAM CEARNS B 237 007 > > > CORBET JANE 23 SEP 1858 ALBION B 150 003 > > > > Regards, > Lynne. 3. Hi List, I am trying to find details on the ship Beltana which arrived into Sydney in October 1928. Where would I look to find date of departure from UK and which direction it travelled. Also passenger lists. Thank you Marie

You might be interested to know that I have just concluded over 20 years of research on this chap, with the assistance of military contacts in Canberra and in Kew, England. As the headstone notes, he won the DCM (second only to the VC) but there was no record of him in honour rolls either here or in England. We have finally (just a few months ago) managed to get him inscribed on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission site. I suspect that his father is buried in the same grave or nearby, although the CORBETT/COLLETTE headstone doesn't indicate this. His aunt, my great grandmother, is buried within a few metres of Harold CORBETT. Her name was Elizabeth TUNNICLIFFE (nee CORBETT), and she is buried with her son, Frank TUNNICLIFFE. Thanks for your kind interest. Trevor Melbourne

    3. I certainly don't wish downgrade the bravery that Mr. Corbett displayed to earn his DCM but you will find that the Military Cross (MC) and the Distinguished Service Order (DSO) both rank above the DCM but below the VC. The British Gazette should have details of the action that led to his award.
