Many thanks Lynne. The family I'm interested were on Blundell in May 1853. That's a year before State Records site has for the Family Loan Colonization Society but is in the time period Mrs Chisholm was active up and down England. This ship not mentioned by SRNSW in context of FLCS but I thought it was included in an earlier discussion here. I wondered if this 1853 voyage was part of the scheme. The make up of the passenger list - wives and little kids - certainly looks as if it could have been. If so, did passengers have a debt to repay after landing and how was this enforced? Did they need a guarantor for example?
