    3. hello Ann, The NAA website is showing Army Service Records for Robert, Alfred, Peter Henry & Alfred Thomas Drackford in the Defence Service Records section of their collection. Place & date of birth, next of kin etc are shown. The records are kept in Canberra but copies can be requested online. good luck, Kathy ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ann" <annpanni@bigpond.net.au> To: <aus-immigration-ships@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, July 27, 2007 9:11 PM Subject: [AUS-IMM-SHIPS] Immigration Scotland to Australia > Hello everybody, > > I am looking for my DRACKFORD family...father and three sons who departed > Glasgow between 1927 and 1940 for Melbourne Australia. 3. Hi Kathy, Thank you for your reply. I have found their Army Service Records online and that's how I know they had arrived into Aus prior to 1940. To request digitised copies is $17.50 per person and I'm still trying to work out which one would be the most benifical to start with. With other family members these records have not told me when and on what ship they arrived into Aus. best wishes Ann ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kathy Eastman" <kathyeastman@optus.net> To: <aus-immigration-ships@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, July 27, 2007 10:35 PM Subject: Re: [AUS-IMM-SHIPS] Immigration Scotland to Australia > hello Ann, > > The NAA website is showing Army Service Records for Robert, Alfred, Peter > Henry & Alfred Thomas Drackford in the Defence Service Records section of > their collection. 3. Hello Ann - when did this charge come in. I was able to get the records of several of my family for nothing, last year ..... just able to download them. Some of them weren't digitized and available but I just requested them and after a month or so they were able to be downloaded. I got my grandfather's, my father's, my father-in-law's, and several brothers-in-law's as well. cheers Val ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ann" <annpanni@bigpond.net.au> To: <aus-immigration-ships@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, July 28, 2007 8:00 AM Subject: Re: [AUS-IMM-SHIPS] Immigration Scotland to Australia > Hi Kathy, > > Thank you for your reply. 3. Hi Val, I was talking to staff at the NAA office here in Bris last week and she said the fee has been in place for around 10mts the she could remember. Some years ago I requested digitized records for seven people they were all free so I was surprised to learn thay I would now have to pay for them. She said I could hope that someone else would request them and they would pay or I could wait 5 yrs or so and all the records would be digitized and online free. They have just finished the WW1 records and ready to start WW2 records. Maybe I won't have to wait five years because I need the D's. 3. Hi all Maybe a minor distinction - are we all writing about WW2 records. Great War records ARE currently available free.
