Hi Marie, Have you tried the GRO microfiche for deaths at sea? You can usually find them at Genealogical Societies and LDS research Centres. Being alphabetical surnames lists you don't need the name of ship, you will get that when you order the death certificate. It's worth a try, I found mine there but they were English, returning from Malta where the husbands army regiment was stationed.
