Came out to Australia in 17 detachments (I think from Cork - why I don't know, unless they were escorting Irish convicts??) Does anyone know which ships? I'm researching a George COWLEY from Newcastle Upon Tyne in Northumberland, born 1811. He was part of this regiment's Mounted Police. When this regiment went to the Indian Sikh wars in 1844, George remained in Australia. I'd like to find which ship he was on and any more info on what they were up to.
