    1. Lady McNaughton
    2. Hello All, I am new to this list and am researching my wife's ancestors at present. The information we have so far is as follows; Patrick Foley (her Great Grandfather) migrated to Australia aboard the "Lady McNaughten" in 1836. On the journey to Australia his two younger sisters (Mary & Margaret) and his father Michael passed away from the dreaded disease Typhus. With his mother and two brothers he arrived in Australia in February 1937 and the ship was quarantined until May 1837. Patrick Foley died at Warracknabeal aged 68 in 1896. His death certificate shows that he was in New South Wales for 9 years and Victoria for 50 years - a total of 59 years in Australia. This indicates that he was about 9 years old when he arrived in New South Wales in 1837 from Ireland, and approximately 18 years old when he came to Victoria from N.S.W. around 1846-1847. I am seeking any information on the ship "Lady McNaughton" and its arrival in 1837, if any passenger details are available, and details of the quarantine when it arrived in N.S.W. Where would I be able to access such records (I live in Melbourne). RESEARCHING FOLEY MURPHY (in N.S.W.)
