Hello Listers, I saw this as a new group and am hoping to find out more information concerning my family that went to Australia sometime between 1871 Cornwall census time and 1880 when their first child was born..... I haven't been able to find a marriage for this couple either, I'm still looking..... Maybe they got married on ship? Alfred James Kempe, from St.Austell, was only 14 in 1871.... So, the years of travel is probably closer to 1875 to 1880....... Alfred's wife was Mary Charlotte Oliver from St. Blazey..... I did get the birth certificate for their first child born in Ovingham, Adelaide, South Australia. Also got the father's death cert., he died 3 days after another child was born in Dec. 1882 and Mary Charlotte went back to Cornwall with the two children. She died in 1885 and the grandparents basically raised the two children. I saw this on the Cornish - Gen - L and was wondering how long the free trips from Cornwall to Australia lasted... It sounds like a good deal! See below..... Regards and Thanks for any help!
