Greetings Everyone, This is my first posting to this list. I am trying to find out about an inscription in a family Bible and so far have drawn a complete blank, despite the detail it contains. It reads: "Mr W. Morris a gift from his brother Peter James on leaving England for Australia March the 18th in the year 1863." William Morris who received the gift was born in 1823. The location is uncertain but possibly Wales. He was married in Portsmouth and served in the Royal Navy. In his later years he lived in London and then Australia, where his children had migrated earlier. There is a family story that this brother, Peter, was a convict, but I have not been able to find any evidence of this or even of his presence in Australia. I have also, so far, not been able to find any information about ships leaving for Australia around Marcy 18th 1863. Any help would be much appreciated.
