Hi to all on the list My name is Elaine JEFFERSON and live in Melbourne and I have a question I hope someone could answer I have some Naturalisation papers just come thur and on the papers it shows the ship that this guy came out on I thought that should be easy enough to track it thru. Spent an hour at PROV yesterday looking at all their Indexes you name it I looked ! Even the BIDDLE books at the State Library but I still came up with ZERO So help !! Okay the ship Charles named that brought him here was EMMA JUGENE on the 12th of March or thereabouts in 1852 from the port of New York USA The nearest I can get to is the EMMA EUGENIA but this landed at Portland in 1852 with Scottish Immigrants from GREENOCK and my dear Charles wasn't Scottish he was born in Norway and he wasn't mentioned on the list There are heaps of Charles Anderson on the lists but not the one I want and I have looked at NSW & SA Indexes but still nothing Everything that he has stated on the papers are correct and line up with amout of years in Victoria and his trade etc I am stumped on this. I even checked the ARGUS newspaper for Incoming Shipping for the entire MARCH but nothing. I am thinking he might have got the ships name wrong but it is very similar in names to the ones I have mentioned If any one can help me on this I would certainly appreciate it. With many thanks for ideas Elaine Jefferson jeffersoneb@patash.com.au ============================== To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 --- Incoming mail is certified Virus Free. 3. Thanks for that but as I said in my message I have looked at the Incoming for the EMMA EUGENIA and Charles Anderson isn't mentioned but that doesn't mean he wasn't part of the ships crew and how to back that I up I don't know. I knew the lady who began transcribing Crew Lists from our PRO a number of years ago but she has since died and she did tell me that they had done only a very small amount Very hard that. I spent a few hours at our PROV Wednesday with no result but will keep on tryingf I suppose I wonder if I joined the USA Shipping List they may be able to help just a thought With thanks again Elaine ----- Original Message ----- From: "Judy & Greg Rowe" <ashmarr@powerup.com.au> To: <AUS-IMMIGRATION-SHIPS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, May 09, 2002 5:55 PM Subject: RE: [AUS-IMM-SHIPS] NEED HELP PLEASE!! > Hi Elaine > > Are you talking about a Charles Anderson coming to Australia???? > > If so the Emma Eugenia came to Australia in 1849...Don't know if this helps. > > Judy Rowe > Qld > > ashmarr@powerup.com.au > > -----Original Message----- > From: Elaine Jefferson [mailto:jeffersoneb@patash.com.au] > Sent: Thursday, May 09, 2002 5:32 PM > To: AUS-IMMIGRATION-SHIPS-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: [AUS-IMM-SHIPS] NEED HELP PLEASE!! > > Hi to all on the list > My name is Elaine JEFFERSON and live in Melbourne and I have a question I > hope someone could answer > > I have some Naturalisation papers just come thur and on the papers it shows > the ship that this guy came out on I thought that should be easy enough to > track it thru.
