    3. Can anyone tell me where I might find, (if one exists) a passenger list for the Lord Lyn(e)doch, arriving in Sydney Aug-Sept 1838. The ship sailed from England with 330 men and was at sea for 126 days. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. thanks Lisa Gelzinnis Sydney

Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Dear Lisa NSW State Records publish a series of fiche of convict indents from 1788 . These are called indents as convicts were classified as 'cargo' . These fiche are in quite a few year blocks Just look for 1838 . Check the top LH corner of the first fiche in that block and that will list the names of the transports and their page numbers. Page numbers are on the top of the fiche . These records to be found at State Records, Globe St The Rocks and in many libraries Bye Marg Morters Member of Central Coast Family History Society GOSFORD NSW Australia

    3. I don't know anything about the ship but a bit of information I have might be useless to you! The town of Lyndoch in the Barossa Valley SA was named after Lord Lyn(e)doch who was a close friend of Colonel William Light ... designer of the city of Adelaide ... who named the town after his friend ... whom I think was an officer in the Crimean war. No help at all but interesting! 3. Dear Judith, That would be fantastic. I am looking for GEORGE ROSS, tried at Inverness. His family joined him in Australia in 1849. Many, many thanks.
