Hello listers I am someone may be able to advise me - a couple of years ago I discovered my grandfather and his brothers enlisted in Victoria in WW1 and both went to France and Gallipoli (1915) - until I found this information I always presumed my grandfather (Sidney) was with the British army. What I would like to know how can I find out when they came to Australia. At the time of enlistment they were farming in a town called Smeaton. Any advice would be appreciated. Regards Trudy

Trudy, You may like to try the Public Records Office of Victoria (on - line ) I managed to find my gg g'parents arrival records dating to 1889, the Public Records site allows you to search surnames in the data base and then provides you with the ship name, date of arrival, names of those in same family traveling and the fiche no. so that you may retrieve a full transcript of the passenger list.
