Good afternoon listers, I have recently joined this list and wonder if anyone can suggest a method which will find the immigration details of an ancestor. Alexander MILNE died in Victoria in 1888 and his death cert. said he'd been in the colony for 44 years. If correct that would mean that he was 11 years old when he arrived in 1844. I believe that he came alone, definitely without his parents who died in England. Family gossip has him as a convict, but I've checked that possibility and it's not true. If he was a stowaway or ship's boy who left the ship in Victoria, would there be a record anywhere? He can't be positively identified until 1874 when he married. Prior to that date I can find no mention of him in any records. I would be very grateful for any suggestions, Best wishes, Desley
