Hello I am interested in a Henry and Beatrice Fowler, with children Beatrice and Mary, who travelled to Victoria (Geelong) on the ship Covenanter in Sept.1854 arriving in Jan. 1855. Does anyone have any information on the Covenanter, or what the journey might have been like (they were not convicts!), and also what might have happened to them in Australia? Regards, Tony Peace

Can find no death of remarriage of Beatrice to 1888, unless she is the Beatrice Matilda FOWLER who m a William JONES in 1874 ?? who travelled to Victoria (Geelong) on the ship Covenanter in Sept.1854 arriving in Jan. 1855. > > Does anyone have any information on the Covenanter, Nothing about this ship in any of the 3 vols of the Log of Logs. Shes mentioned in Symes 'Arrivals and Departures , Victorian Ports' as being of 1274t , master was H J McPHERSON, carried 400 gov immigrants and was quarantined . departed for Bombay 15 Feb 1855 no pass or what the journey might have been like (they were not convicts!) Far to late to have been convicts , and also what might have happened to them in Australia? Abit hard to tell just from indexes . Was this family from Wolverhampton ?
