    2. Lyn You might try Bounty Scheme Ships under the Dr John Dunmore Lang, Ports were most likely Sydney or Moreton Bay. Records on most references are no 100% and one I was researching was not even listed but it is a starting point. http://www.blaxland.com/ozships/ http://www.records.nsw.gov.au (Publications, Online Services, Immigration opens a search facility) http://www.standard.net.au/~jwilliams/ships.htm Under the JDM Bounty scheme he recruited in Scotland to bring skilled people to the colony and Carpenters feature quite strong among them. Often the port of departure seemed to be Greenock on Scotland (JDM home town) Best of luck ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lyn Robinson" <lrobbomelton@primus.com.au> To: <AUS-IMMIGRATION-SHIPS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, April 17, 2002 10:37 PM Subject: [AUS-IMM-SHIPS] Migration from Scotland 1840s > Can anyone tell me at which ports in Australia , ships bringing migrants from Scotland in the 1840s would be likely to land. I am looking for James McGregor, wife Margaret, children David, Jane, Joseph and Robert. who came here sometime in the 1840s. James was a cabinet maker. Are there lists of passengers who were in steerage available, It would help if I knew the name of the ship. which I don't.Maybe some one can help me. > Lyn > > > ============================== > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 >
