I don't know where they arrived and strictly where they left from but I would assume somewhere from Worcester Frederick William CRANE was born in Dudley, Worcester in 1859/60.He came to Australia as a child around 1862. His marriage certificate lists his parents as William Robert CRANE and Mary COTTON. I can find no trace of his parents in Victoria. Frederick died in Victoria 1942 and it says he was 80 years in the colony. I've checked as many shipping indexs as I can find, but there is no William and Mary Crane that I can find, but by no means am I experienced enough to find them all. On the English free BDM's I have found a Mary Ann CRANE born in Worcester in 1862 to a William and Mary CRANE. (she may be a sibling) There is also a record of a Henry CRANE, b 1857, Joseph CRANE b. 1860, Sarah CRANE b. 1860. These people may bear no relation to my GG but they could be siblings or cousins. If the whole family came out to Australia together they may be on shipping lists as a group Any help that might get me past this brick wall I would be very grateful. > Where did they arrive and where from? > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: claire <clairet@bigpond.net.au> > To: <AUS-IMMIGRATION-SHIPS-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Sunday, April 28, 2002 4:29 PM > Subject: Re: [AUS-IMM-SHIPS] Frederick William CRANE > > > > If birds of a feather flock together, I'm hoping the same can be said of > > Cranes and a family of them arrived here somewhere around 1862 with young > > frederick William tucked under their wing.
