Was my g.grandmother with him on the pigeon?????????? > I'm looking for help myself as my GG just seems to have appeared here in > Australia by carrier pigeon. >
Some say babies are carried by storks, but, a crane hitching a ride on a pigeon carrier is a bird of another feather. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Phillip Carruthers" <pcarruth@bigpond.net.au> To: <AUS-IMMIGRATION-SHIPS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, April 28, 2002 4:31 PM Subject: Re: [AUS-IMM-SHIPS] Frederick William CRANE > Was my g.grandmother with him on the pigeon?????????? > > > > I'm looking for help myself as my GG just seems to have appeared here in > > Australia by carrier pigeon. > > > > > > ============================== > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 > >

If birds of a feather flock together, I'm hoping the same can be said of Cranes and a family of them arrived here somewhere around 1862 with young frederick William tucked under their wing. Any suggestions where to look folks? I have just tried to do an immigration search in the National Archives but it won't let me do a search. Any ideas why not. There is probably only one way to find your answer - with hard slog. Start by visiting this site http://www.records.nsw.gov.au/publications/aibs/aib39-ark.htm and then follow the trail. Your local library probably has the ARK. Ron
