    3. Hi Lance, The only entries that look like your Jefferies are an Edward and Mary Jefferies who departed London on 20 dec 1912 and landed in Fremantle WA. Both listed as 63 years old so birth date seems to match - occupations agriculture and domestic. No children mentioned. This was on the ship AJANA. There were 365 passengers on the Papanui. A James Kelman was traveling alone - listed as 24 yrs, single, farm labourer. Dept London on 18 August 1911. No Jane Kelman is listed. There is a listing for a Mr W Kelman traveling with a Mr G Kelman on the ship Kaipara which left London on the 1 Dec 1911 and arr in Fremantle. Both described as single farm labourers - no ages given. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything else like ship's details, capt etc. Jane On 24/07/2007, at 3:01 AM, lance a wrote: > Hi Jane, > Thanks for the offer of a look-up of shipping to Australia. > I am trying to locate the ship and its passenger list that > brought my GGG Grandfather and his family to Australia c1907. > Edward Albert JEFFERIES b.1850, possibly Mary Ann > Jefferies nee DAVIES > (his wife) b.1852, at least two children - Edward Albert > b.1888 and > Arthur Leonard b.1893. > It is possible that more children are also present on the voyage > and possible that Mary Ann was deceased before the voyage. > > Also I need the passanger list for the 'Papanui' which arrived in > Fremantle c1911, whith my GG Grandfather James KELMAN b.1886, > posssibly accompanied by siblings and mother Jane KELMAN nee McKENZIE > Thanks for the help. > > Lance > > > Jane Drayton <draytonj@bigpond.net.au> wrote: > >> Hi all, >> >> I have a subscription with Findmypast.com to check all ships leaving >> the UK from 1890-1929 but it expires on 31 July. 3. Hi Jane, Thanks for the offer of a look-up of shipping to Australia. I am trying to locate the ship and its passenger list that brought my GGG Grandfather and his family to Australia c1907. Edward Albert JEFFERIES b.1850, possibly Mary Ann Jefferies nee DAVIES (his wife) b.1852, at least two children - Edward Albert b.1888 and Arthur Leonard b.1893. It is possible that more children are also present on the voyage and possible that Mary Ann was deceased before the voyage. Also I need the passanger list for the 'Papanui' which arrived in Fremantle c1911, whith my GG Grandfather James KELMAN b.1886, posssibly accompanied by siblings and mother Jane KELMAN nee McKENZIE Thanks for the help. 3. Hi, Robyn, You must have learned Latin!! There is no plural of ASIMUS (not from the Latin anyway: seeing that it is a German surname.} ASIMUS plural would have to be ASIMUS (? 4th declension): I have also seen it spelt as ASSIMUS on the nsw. bdm. I am just trying to work out why they came to Rockley, as did the SHEPHARDs within a year or so? Was there land available there or what? Why Rockley (about ? 70 kms from Bathurst?) Way away from anywhere at that time. Family story (loads of rubbish I am sure!) says that the SHEPHARDs 'knew that they were going there' ! Do you have any idea how I can find out why Rockley was "the place to be" ? Best wishes and thank you, Carolyn. 3. Hi, Lynne, I *have* come across this marriage, but was blinded, stupidly, by the family "story" that they were both SHEPHARDs ! Only trouble with it I can see is Louisa. George and Charlotte, to the best of my knowledge didn't have a Louisa. The informant on both their DCs lists deceased children: George has 2 males deceased (Joseph and William) and Charlotte has 2 males (the same 2) and 1 female (who was Eliza). Yes, the informant was S. A. SCHUMACKER (Sarah Ann married Heinrich A.A. SCHUMACHER. She also says they were m. in Derbyshire. The place of George and Charlotte's marriage as Sheffield is on 4th daughter Charlotte's BC. On son James' BC in 1862 there is an actual marriage date of 17 Apr, 1854. (Not so: I paid $39 to an oversead researcher who told me there is no such marriage)!! Whoops!!......................I've just noticed something on the BC of unnamed daughter on 31, Jan, 1861.................................. Father, Informant, George SHEPPARD who signed with X, says for Previous Issue: Charlotte, Annie Elizabeth, Sarah Ann and Mary Jane and in 1862 on BC of son James, it says "Two Females Living (or Five), None Deceased." This is the mention of place of marriage as Sheffield. Aaarrrgh! Where on earth do I go from here? Thank you to you and Jane so v.v. much for helping me to unravel this idiotic bunch!! Crazy Carolyn. 3. Hi, Jane, Trouble is that there are 2 families in Bathurst similarly named. A George WILSON m. Charlotte HOLBERT in 1837. They were both convicts. I have decided on SHEPHARD for the reason that 95% of 'mine' were spelt SHEPHARD or SHEPPARD. However the James who died in 1928 'may' be mine; I have all their deaths somewhere (??) <g> He was b. 1862. George and Charlotte didn't have a Mary A, only a Mary J. Mary A SHEPHERD was Mary Ann WILSON b. 1837 and married George SHEPHERD in {unreal!!} Bathurst Presbyterian (where loads of our rellies were married )! These WILSONs and SHEPHERDs belong to an email friend of mine. Very confusing that we both have WILSONs and SHEPHARDs (sic) Thank you for thinking of me and trying to help me. Best wishes, Carolyn. 3. Carolyn, Did you decide it was SHEPHARD as opposed to SHEPHERD? On bdm there is a Mary A Shepherd died 1890 in Bathurst with parents George and Charlotte and a James died 1928 in Bathurst - same parents first names. Not sure if someone can do a look-up to see Charlotte's maiden name on the dcs? 3. Hi, Lynne, Thank you very much for that. It confuses me though, (not difficult!) because George SHEPHARD's DC of 1879 states he was in N.S.W. for 20 years and Charlotte's DC of 1915-16 says she was in N.S.W. for 57 years. This tallies with the BC of their 3rd daughter (I think) at Summerhill, Rockley on 3 Jun, 1859 (registered at Bathurst 1 Aug, 1859.) As yet, I do not have the BCs of their first 2 daughters (presumably born in England) and on 3 Jun, 1859 they are listed as "Previous Issue" - Hannah Elizabeth 4, and Sarah Ann 2. I think the ones you have mentioned are too early to be them. Do you? There is so much dissenting information about this family that I really can't be sure about anything, though. I have sent for Hannah Elizabeth's mariage (or death) certificate (not sure which !) to see if it mentions her birthplace and the maiden name of her mother (which to add to the confusion also is stated as SHEPHARD ) but there is definitely no marriage of 2 SHEPHARD's in England. George's DC says he was married at age 25, England to Charlotte SHEPHARD (= abt 1854) and Charlotte's DC says she was 21 at marriage (= abt 1853) and place of marriage was Sheffield, England. I've spent days on Ancestry and can't find anything which 'looks likely'. Shall try the 1851 Census again. Best wishes, Carolyn. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lynne Radford" <lynne_r@tpg.com.au> To: <aus-immigration-ships@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, July 20, 2007 12:10 AM Subject: Re: [AUS-IMM-SHIPS] IMMIGRATION OF SHEPHARD FAMILY. > Hi Carolyn, > The only ship by that name was HMS Collingwood, 1844-1848, Adm.
