Looking for information for arrival of William Wilson and his wife Margaret (born Simpson) from Ireland, probably between 1835 to 1837. Most likely arrived at Sydney or Newcastle. William was a farmer, and the family were settled in the Liverpool area by early 1850’s. Many thanks for any and all help. Cherrie No virus found in this outgoing message. Hello Listers I'm out of my league, hope some one can help. My GG Grandfather Clarke Waite absconded from the Ship 'Ranger' on 17 Apr 1856 in Sydney he was 22yrs. He was listed as Boatswain. I have found his name on the crew list on Mariners and ships in NSW waters, is there any way I can find out if he was on other voyages? or any information of the 'Ranger'? It carried no passengers, the last census he appears on in England is 1841. Hope some one can steer me in the right direction. Cheers Gayle Rainy Mollymook NSW
Many thanks Lynne. The family I'm interested were on Blundell in May 1853. That's a year before State Records site has for the Family Loan Colonization Society but is in the time period Mrs Chisholm was active up and down England. This ship not mentioned by SRNSW in context of FLCS but I thought it was included in an earlier discussion here. I wondered if this 1853 voyage was part of the scheme. The make up of the passenger list - wives and little kids - certainly looks as if it could have been. If so, did passengers have a debt to repay after landing and how was this enforced? Did they need a guarantor for example? Dear Marg I am thrilled to receive your reply so quickly. I know the family was at Maitland at one stage, and I know they are both buried in the Gunnedah cemetery. When their 5th child Patrick (my g-grandfather) was born in 1857 it seems they were at "Aberglaslyn", which I assume is the property near Maitland. He married a Margaret Boyle at Tamworth on 10-2-1879. I also know this second Patrick & Margaret were at "Trinkey Station" near Gunnedah when their 3rd child was born. Thank you so much for your information about the "Woodbridge" which I will endeavour to follow up. Do you have any other information about the Maitland Darcy's?
