HI, The only information we have is that she was Sarah Davis (maiden name) who married George (Gabriel) Moss in 1839. From her death certificate the estimated year of arrival is 1832. On George's application to marry it is noted that Sarah was free but gave no other details. Her age was given as 21 on the request, but on the marriage registration as 19. No parents names given on marriage or death certificates. INFO FROM DEATH CERTIFICATE: Sarah died 30th December 1862 at the residence of Mr. Richardson of Waverly at 7.15 from affection of the liver brought on by gastric fever aged 46, wife of George Moss, wine merchant of Sydney. PERMISSION TO MARRY INFO: "Request Moss, Gabriel 26 Mary III (4) 14 Bond Davis, Sarah Ann 21 1839 Walsh, Rev. William Horatio St Laurence Refusal Moss, Gabriel Mary III (4) Davis, Sarah Ann Free 11 May 1839 Walsh, Rev. William Horatio St Laurence It is necessary to state whether Davies arrived Free and also the name of the ship" Sarah and Gabriel were a couple before their marriage as the NSW BDM include the following entries: "MARY A.F. MOSS b 1837 V1837157 21/1837 to George and Sarah A EDWIN J MOSS 1839 V1839165 23A/1839 to George ands Sarah A " We have discovered a lot about convict Gabriel Moss (AKA George in Australia after is marriage) and his children to two marriages etc, but his first wife Sarah's history still eludes us. regards Robyn in Wodonga ----- Original Message ----- From: "Carolyn and Darryl" <dazwilson@bigpond.com> To: <aus-immigration-ships@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, August 16, 2007 5:26 PM Subject: Re: [AUS-IMM-SHIPS] Which Ship in c1832-1839 > Hi, Robyn, > > Happy to help, but can't quite work out the > details................................. > > What date was her DC? > Was she b. Hi Marg, Is it possible to find out about the Talavera 1853 Sydney NSW - quarantined (because of mumps/measles) for several weeks? My English GGG-Grandmother Johanna Sutton and 4 children arrived on this ship on 6th September 1853. I have the list of passengers which includes my ancestors' names, ages etc, but would love to find extra info relating to the quarantining of this ship. Hi listers, I am trying to find the arrival details of Sarah Davis. On her convict husband's first application to marry in 1839 it is noted that she came free and was aged 21. From her death certificate it is estimated that she arrived c1832. So it could be that she arrived anytime unti 1839. Any suggestions would be welcomed. Robyn in Wodonga

Hello List I have been on your list for a little while, and now I would like to ask a question. I found today that my 2gt grandparents emigrated on the ship Amelia Thompson from departing Plymouth 28/3/1838 and arriving in Sydney 1/7/1838. The ship was quarantined because some of the passengers' had died from Typhus. I am wondering if there is a way that I can find how long it was quarantined for. Today while in my local library I was able to copy the records, but I did not think to check on the to see if there was any mention of how long is was quarantined for. Any help would be wonderful Cheers Melissa Skinner Co-ordinator, Family Reunion for Aussie Descendants of William & Elizabeth Skinner Celebrating 170 Years in Australia Saturday 5 July 2008 No virus found in this outgoing message. My GG Grandfather Clarke Waite absconded from the Ship 'Ranger' on 17 Apr 1856 in Sydney he was 22yrs. He was listed as Boatswain. I have found his name on the crew list on Mariners and ships in NSW waters, is there any way I can find out if he was on other voyages? or any information of the 'Ranger'?
