Hi Lynne and list, Lynne, would you mind seeing if my family is on your passenger arrivals WA 1839-1890 CD please? And if anyone else has any lists they could check for me please I would be very grateful. I have searched the lists for arrivals to Victoria via the PROV and the lists to NSW via their State Records Index online all to no avail. George and Charlotte and their two children Hannah age abt 4yrs and Sarah Ann abt 2yrs arrived in Australia some time after Sarah Anns birth and the birth of Mary Jane. The the last place I can find them is in Sheffield, Yorkshire. The family story says Mary Jane was born at sea just prior to arrival in 1859. Thank you for all assiatance. Ann in Brisbane

Luke, Maybe you've already seen the following site. It gives the names of the crew and the seven cabin passengers, with only the numbers of the steerage passengers, listed either as German or as British emigrants: http://mariners.records.nsw.gov.au/1855/04/5504.htm Good luck. Hello Maureen. Thanks for your message. The problem is that I have no idea at which port he would have left the ship and that would mean checking every port, not just capital cities. Hello Bob. I hope that you find Percy one of these days, as you've been looking for him for a long time. re: your suggestion that he may have 'jumped ship' - the old Police Gazettes in each state have entries regarding deserters in Australian ports. Have you plowed through these yet? They usually give a good description of the deserter. Often there was a reward offered for information leading to the arrest of these deserters. I don't have any Gazettes, but I have read them whilst trying to find my rellies and this could be an avenue you may want to try, if you haven't already. You might find them in either your State Archives or State Library. Good luck, and I hope that you'll let us all know when you do find your elusive Percy! Hello Trevor. Thanks for your message. Sorry, none of those fit. The ages are all wrong and Percy's wife came here whilst Percy was already here. I looked at "Find my past" but no BENSON seemed to fit the time slot Oh well, one day. I had a message posted to a list on a regular basis and after 5 years, a new lister had the answer. Persistence does pay. Thank you again for looking, best wishes, Cheers, Bob in Melbourne ----- Original Message ----- From: "Trevor" <tjwilliams@iinet.net.au> To: <aus-immigration-ships@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, October 02, 2007 9:46 AM Subject: Re: [AUS-IMM-SHIPS] Percy BENSON > Bob, > > May not be of any use to you but in findmypast.com there is: > > 1. an H.P.D. I assumed you probably had the extra information. I may be able to fill in a little more if you have specific queries Regards, Chris -----Original Message----- From: aus-immigration-ships-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:aus-immigration-ships-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Ron Parker Sent: Tuesday, 2 October 2007 10:32 AM To: aus-immigration-ships@rootsweb.com Subject: [AUS-IMM-SHIPS] Forrestall Hello Chris Thanks for all the information on the Forrestall's it helps fill in some gaps. I am intrigued how you located it so quickly. As you point out Michael Forrestall's age does not fit the details of the Forrestall that arrived in Melbourne so probably not the same individual. Just have to keep looking. Benson aged 40 and single, ex London on the 'Orotova' 13 December 1895, bound for Sydney 2. a Dr H.P.Darcy Benson aged 38 and single, ex London on the 'Oruba' 1st May 1896, bound for Sydney 3. a P.J. Benson, age not given, married and accompanied by Mrs Benson and Mr A.M. Benson, ex London on the 'Otranto' 1st October 1909, bound for Sydney. There are other Bensons listed but none with given names or initials for the period 1890 - 1920. Trevor
