Hi Peoples I have a little bit of a mystery. Henry WILKES appeared in Fremantle in 1865 and I haven't the faintest idea which ship he came on ... and I have searched them all !!! ... I am assuming that it would have to be one of two things. He came to the east coast first then to WA or was part of steerage passengers many of whom were not recorded. Henry was born about 1836 and was a shoemaker by trade. I know it is a big ask .... but would appreciate anyone kind enough to remember, to keep an eye out for him. I've even 'lost' his rellies in the UK and I just hate that :-{ Bright Blessings Sandie Fremantle Western Australia
Hi to you good folks down under, Trying to get some info. on one of my Gfathers sisters, who emigrated to Australia, some time between 1900 and 1943. The only info. that I have, is a copy of a letter from her, to brother Sidney, written about 1945. Address at the top of the letter is :- 78 Mary Ann street, ******, Sydney, NSW. Can anybody complete the address for me please. Also is it possible to find who was living there during the years 1943-45, and possibly several years either side as well. What censuses are available for that time??? I don't have her married name, don't even know if she married. Is this the best list to be using for the Sydney area please??? Hi again everyone, Sooorrrry. The date for the departure/arrival of the "Peerless" should have read departure from Liverpool 16th June, 1863 and arrival on 23rd September, 1863 - not 1883 as I advised. Forgiven? Jan Shaw.
Hi everyone, Does anyone have access to a passenger list for the "Peerless" which departed Liverpool on 16th June, 1883, arriving 23rd September , 1883 (not sure which port). Am looking for details of the LATTA family who were, apparently, on board. Many thanks, Jan Shaw.
I am new to this list and wonder if someone can tell me if you can find out the names of the ships that people came out to Victoria somewhere between 1830 and 1880 if you only have a surname but have no idea of the name of the ship. Came out to Australia in 17 detachments (I think from Cork - why I don't know, unless they were escorting Irish convicts??) Does anyone know which ships? I'm researching a George COWLEY from Newcastle Upon Tyne in Northumberland, born 1811. He was part of this regiment's Mounted Police. When this regiment went to the Indian Sikh wars in 1844, George remained in Australia. I'd like to find which ship he was on and any more info on what they were up to. Thanks and kind regards Lina Australia
Hello All, Seeking any information on the ship "Lady McNaughton" especially regarding her voyage from Cork in 1836 which arrived in Sydney in February 1837. I have had conflicting reports that she carried 100 passengers or 444 passengers (the latter seems a bit high). Fifty six people are supposed to have died on the trip mainly from Typhus, including 3 of my wife's ancestors (her GG Grandfather and two of his daughters i.e. her GG Aunts). Are there any pictures of the ship available? Also wondering if there is a copy of the passenger list for the above trip. I have made an extensive search of the web and can't find very much information. Regards, Terry
I am new to the list and am looking for any information on the ship "Oriental" which it seems my ggrandfather PETER RAFFERTY arrived in 1855. We have just received this information and are looking for anything in regards to it. Thank you in advance Teresa Sinclair
Hello, I'm trying to find my grandparents entry in to Australia. They were supposed to have left England July 1912, arriving in Australia about six weeks later. Their names were Frederick Graham and Annie Duers. I'm not sure if they were married, or even if they came together. They lived in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, before coming to Queensland. There's nothing available here for the other states, in that time period. Could anyone who has access to passenger lists please help? Thanks Nancy Qld.
Researching a James Hill who emigrated to Tasmania from UK in 1842/1843 with his wife Lydia (Kempy). A son, William Frederick Hill, was born on board an unknown ship off the Tasmanian coast on 30 Nov 1842. The birth was registered at Longford (near Launceston) on 9 Jan 1843. Suspect other siblings in this family. James was a farmer around the Longford, Perth and Evandale outskirts of Launceston. Would be grateful for any information about this Hill family but particularly I would like to know what ship this could have been. Hi Delma You were right about it being 'about 1910' but it wasn't Brisbane, it was Sydney. Your family arrived on the Ophir which left London on 1 April 1910 - your grandmother, plus 'Bertie' [sic] Thomas, Edward, Grace and Lucy. No sign of your grandfather. I don't have the Sydney arrival date, sorry.
