Hi everyone. I am back. Does anyone have passenger lists? This time I need to find a Stephen Fitzpatrick who came to Australia before 1870. He married in Melbourne in that year. So he came here before then. I thought I found him on the Merchant Price in 1862 but I am not sure if it's the one I'm looking for. Thanks for any help. Kim Melbourne, Australia Visit My Web Site at: www.geocities.com/ftree2000
I am looking for Frederick Muller born about 1854 in Ladenburg Baden Germany whose permission to emigrate in 1871 says he was coming to six siblings already in Australia. He married in Gundagia (I am not sure which state this is in either) in 1876. I can't find his entry and don't know who the six siblings were or where. Can you help me? Thanks Leonie
>Terry. Here is a bit of information for you from my Allen family tree re the "Lady McNaughton". >I am seeking information on the ship "Lady Macnaughton" and in particular her voyage to >NSW in 1837 in which 56 people died. 1. DANIEL1 ALLEN was born 1781 in Ballymartle, Cork Ireland. He met MARGARET JEFFERS in Ireland, daughter of MATTHEW JEFFERS. Notes for DANIEL ALLEN: On 26 February 1837, under the command of Captain George Hustwick, the emigrant ship, the Lady McNaughton staggered into Port Jackson with a raging to violent fever on board - later being identified as Typhus fever - and immediateld put into quarantine. Of the original 414 passengers who had embarked at the Cove of Cork, Ireland some 3 months earlier, some 14 adults and 53 children had died - among their number, the ship surgeon, Dr James Alfred Hawkins Esq, aged 26 years. Many families were not left untouched: the Allens being more fortunate than most. Elizabeth New England area of NSW

Hi all I have a "journal" written by my great grandfather on his voyage out to Australia from Ireland (via Liverpool) on the "Albion" in 1858. He has described some of his fellow passengers along with their antics and quite a few colourful incidents along the way. Also his impressions and description of arriving in Melbourne. Some people he describes in detail but does not give their name. This may be of interest to anyone who had immigrants on the same ship. The full names he does mention are: Walsh (or Welsh) of Dublin (related to the Spains of Nenagh Tipperary) Stokes (son of innkeeper at Felhard) Power (of Kilkenny) Murray (of Nenagh) Sullivan (of Galway) Baker (of Dublin - father was a clergyman near Cahir) Other references are to the surname first initial only. please get in touch if you are interested to know more. Kate

Hello List, Is anybody able to inform me as to wher to locate information regarding the ship "Oriental", departed Southampton for S.A. 1855. I have been in touch with Public Records Office , Kew London and they only keep records from 1890 onwards. Can anyon else suggest wher to look next? Thanking you Teresa Sinclair
A side light to the "Kangaroo" - It was certainly in Australian waters from 1814 when it took the last settlers from Norfolk Island to Sydney. I think it took earlier people direct from Norfolk Island to Tasmania. You could try contacting the NSW Records Office. ----------------------------------------------- Regards Betty Candy ----- Original Message ----- From: <RomniRoser@aol.com> To: <AUS-IMMIGRATION-SHIPS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, 18 July 2001 9:22 AM Subject: Question of Difference > Good morning listers. > > I have a question that is slightly off topic so beg a little indulgence. Good morning listers. I have a question that is slightly off topic so beg a little indulgence. I am grasping at straws here. The ship Kangaroo did a trip in 1817 from the mainland to Tasmania with a large number of convict women aboard. I have been unable to find a list of those aboard that ship. Has anyone seen it, or can anyone offer substantial suggestions... I do hope the answer is not a simple one... I don't want to go and sit in the dunces corner today ... I did that last week.
