Hi all. I've just joined. My interests are in the "Osterley" and the "Sophlecles" steam ships. I personally have shipping tickets and a programme from the "Osterley" in its voyage to Australia in 1925. Yours Christine Percival
Hello Listers, The Griffith family arrived on the 'Canton' in 1835 - many thanks to listers for that information. I have searched for that ship's name and have found the Canton Packet for 1835 - but no dates or ports or anything! The only information is "to Sandwich Islands 25th July 1835". This Packet sounds as though it may only have been involved in local trade and may not have been big enough for the long trip. Would there have been another 'Canton' that arrived from Britain in 1835? Best wishes Sybil Cameron
Brothers came from County Down to Australia. John was my Grandfather. He was born in 1871 and married my Gmother in 1910 at Hughenden, so it would be sometime in these years. I can't find anything about him. Would anybody have come across these names in their search? Regards Bob
Hello Listers? Could I seek your assistance with this one please? At some stage between 1838 and 1849, John and Sybella Mackay and their seven or eight children, migrated from Prince Edward Island in Canada to Sydney. Would they have gone to London to make the voyage or would there have been a direct connection from PEI? Would anyone know how I might go about tracking down the ship? Best wishes Sybil Cameron
Has anyone used a research to help locate when and how their ancestors arrived in Australia? If so who are they and what were their rates. Thankyou Gwenda

Dear List, Would SKS be able to find if a Charles MYLES arrived approximately 1844. He was born in Yarmouth. I don't know which ship he was on or if he came with his parents or not. He would have been about 20. Later, he became a farmer in the Rossmore, Bringelly area near Liverpool. Thanking you, in anticipation, Gwenda Thomson
Can SKS tell me where I can find the passenger list for the above on Line. I think it would have come from Liverpool to Sydney, but not sure. If anybody has it, would they do a look-up for me if it is not on line. I am looking for Michael FITZSIMMONS; Isabella FITZSIMMONS and William FITZSIMMONS. Hopefully there may be some details about them on the list. Maureen

Hello listers, In my family's records I have found the names of two ships which brought folk here - both arriving in Sydney in 1834. I have searched in all the websites I know for reference to these ships, but have found nothing. They are: 1. The brig "Eleanor' from England (or Wales) arrived Sydney 1st. February, 1834 2. The "James Harris" from England arrived Sydney 1st. May 1834. Does anyone have references to these ships, please? Best wishes Sybil Cameron
My grandmother arrived at Rockhampton, Australia abroard the vessel 'Limerick". Can anyone tell me the type of ship this is? Thank you Jeanette
Yvonne - If you log on to the Australian War Memorial site - www.awm.gov.au - you can get your William's army number and then apply for his Personnel dossier on-line or by mail etc from www.naa.gov.au - his dossier should include copy of marriage cert and date of sailing home etc and whether she came with him or on a separate ship. If she came on a separate ship you should be able to get that using the info in the dossier and immigration on the same site. All the best, Alice.
