I have a copy of an application for certificate of naturalization, from the National Archives, on which my husband's grandfather stated that he arrived from Sweden on 2 April 1913 aboard the Italian ship "Ninfa" and disembarked in Sydney. Where would I find information about the ship and its passengers ? Iona Fettell.
One of my relatives has come across "a diary for 1890 on the front of which is written `Wreck of Quetta 28th February 1890.` The diary is an Australian one and there are entries in it for every day from 2nd January - 31st December 1890." They have no idea to whom it belongs although it was found amongst their grandfather's papers. I have seen the web page about the wreck of the Quetta but does anyone have any other information about it? Would there be likely to be a passenger list? Thank you Pam Veenstra Queensland
Hi Everyone, Sorry, I just realised that George Hayward and family could have come from Monmouthshire instead of Gloucestershire. Thanks, Ronnie. http://travel.yahoo.com.au - Yahoo! Travel - Got Itchy feet? Get inspired!

Hi all I am hoping SKS may be able to find the arrival (in NSW or QLD) of either a JOHN REEVE/S or an ELIZABETH CROSSMAN during the 1860s. Here's hoping...Judy from downunder
Hello listers, Hugh G. Mckinney, his wife and two infant children, sailed from Bombay on 8 November 1879 destined for Sydney. Would anyone know when the ship is likely to have arrived at Sydney and where I could find out the name of the ship and a list of its passengers (which probably included the McMordie family)? Best wishes Sybil Cameron

Dear Fellow Listers I have been trying to find how and when my great great grandparents travelled to Australia. Johanna DAVIS, daughter of Robert Davis and Mary Bryant, born Calne (Wiltshire) married John James SMITH, born Tonbridge (Kent) in Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia in 1865. >From dates on children's birth certificates - they had eight children, of whom only three were surviving when their mother died in 1886 - it seems Johanna Davis was born about 1843 and John Smith about 1838. Maybe they met on the voyage to Australia? I have not been able to trace Johanna Davis's or John James Smith's arrival in Australia thru immigration records in Qld State Library. Johanna was my gg grandmother - I'd love to know more about her, especially as she apparently travelled from England on her own; so many John Smiths in the records, yet none seem to fit. Your assistance very gratefully received. Regards Lyn
Hello from Canada My grandmothers sister Anne Gorry b.1847 in Moate Co.Westmeath Ireland, married a James Wray in Maryborough Queensland in 1875.I have the children of that marriage, although some of them died in Brisbane. I'm trying to find out when and where she arrived in Australia. She may have sailed from Scotland or Ireland as some of her family went to Dundee Scotland in the 1890s but she wasn't in any of the censuses. I'd be grateful for any help anyone can give. Thanks Frank McGonigal Ont.Canada
Hi everyone, I'm new to the list. I am looking for a THOMAS MOORE who came from NOVA SCOTIA in Canada to the Australian Goldfields..don't know if it was Vic or NSW. He MARRIED/PARTNERED here during the 1850s,60s 70s, and then sometime later went on to India. I'm keen to know if there is a LIST OF SHIPS that came from NOVA SCOTIA during that time frame, and where I can access names on those ships Would anyone be able to help me here. I'd like to be able to access records of marriages also during that time in those places, and also if there are any records of people who worked in the Goldfields. Thank you for any help! Regards, Wendy
Hello I was wondering how I am able to find out where the Donald McKay would have berthed when it arrived in Victoria from a British Port in December 1861. Thankyou Gwenda
Hi, looking for info on a ship called the HYDRIA. On the 1828 NSW Census there is a listing for Henry Deer aged 14 yrs, came free, and that he came on the "HYDRIA or D0671" Can anyone enlighten me as to what the D0671 stands for? I cannot find a trace of the HYDRIA. He arrived about 1825 in NSW when he was about 10. His father was William Deer(Dear). Henry is also known as Dear. I have no idea where the ship would have left from. All his certificates only list England as his place of birth. Any help appreciated, Shonagh
Hello all, I will be away from the computer for a couple of days but my daughter will be keeping an eye on things for me so all should go along smoothly. Cheers Meg

Hi everyone I've found an entry on the on-line Victorian Immigration Index which I think is my great grandfather. However, the WA State Library only has fiche of Vic Immigration to 1879. Would SKS with access to later shipping records be willing to look at this entry for me? HENRY CROSS, AGED 19, FEB 1889, 'LIGURIA', PORT B, FICHE 510, PAGE 3 Many TIA Rosemary in Western Australia
