    1. [AUS-IMM-SHIPS] THE NEW LIVERPOOL
    2. Beverley Weymouth
    3. Good Morning Listers, The New Liverpool arrived Port Phillip in August, 1849, the passengers being (I believe) predominantly female Irish orphans. Would a list of the ships crew be available? I would also be interested to know if the ship sailed direct from Ireland or would it have sailed from England? Any assistance would be very much appreciated. Regards, Beverley, NSW

    3. On the hunt for info again please.............. Family has given me the below possible connection, but I would like to fill in the blanks to see how legit it is. Nathaniel WARDE (1588 - 1652) one of the authors of the first legal code to be enacted in New England, was born in Haverhill in Suffolk, England. However....the earliest members I have on file are........ Thomas WARD M: Ann (at Holy Trinity, Coventry) 1. Richard WARD (born: c18/02/1794) M: Sarah HAMMERSLEY (m: 2/06/1830 , Bedworth, England) i. William Francis WARD (born:1/12/1830 , England) (died: 31/10/1893 , Geraldton, West Aust) (Buried in Old Cemetary) M: Elizabeth RALLEY (born: 1834) (died: 1/01/1928) (Aparently descendent of Sir Walter Raleigh...but no link as yet found) (born prior to arrival in Aust) a) Harriet WARD (born: c 21/10/1856) b) Sarah Elizabeth WARD (born: 23/05/1858) (died: 20/03/1846) c) Thomas WARD (born: c 21/08/1859) d) Francis William WARD (born: 24/05/1861) (died: 3/06/1934) (born after arrival in Aust) e) Richard WARD (born: 16/10/1868) (died: 1925) f) Nona WARD (born: 16/05/1871) (died: 13/10/1945) g) George Patrick WARD (born: 27/07/1873) (died: 1873) h) John Henry WARD (born: 18/10/1874) (died: 1875) i) George WARD (born: 28/11/1877) (died: 24/08/1945) (according to family sources : born to Sarah Elizabeth, taken by her parents & brought up as her youngest brother) (William Francis was reportedly educated as a blue coat scholar in England, arrived in WA aboard "Mary Harrison" 24/06/1862 accompanied by wife & children. He was appointed Chief Warder at Rottnest ---- I have some stats on his time as Chief Warder on Rottnest if anyone is interested ---- I only have details on him until 1893 on Rottnest, then I have hit a blank, only knowing he later moved to Geraldton, WA, where his sons had a blacksmith & wheelright business, the land was eventually sold to the Catholic Bishop) Has anyone got any further info on the above? Can you provide the linkage between Thomas WARD & Nathaniel WARDE? I have names of most of the descendents of this family....though I am missing BD&M dates for some of them. Any help greatly appreciated ! Cindy-Leigh

    1. [AUS-IMM-SHIPS] HOWES NORLFOLK / ABERDEEN
    2. Lorraine OSullivan
    3. Hi Listers Searching for information on the following family members travel to Australia, although I am unable to supply much information at this stage, I am hopeful that someone has come across these names on their lists. 1 ELIZABETH HOWES sailed from England to Sydney, may have travelled under her maiden name of ELLIOT / ELLIOTT . Elizabeth appeared on the 1871 Norfolk Census but not on the 1881, best guess is that she travelled between those years. May have travelled with some of her children, Emma, William, Arthur, Albert, Byron & John. 2 FREDERICK GOLDEN HOWES (son of Elizabeth) sailed from Scotland to Sydney, probably about 1908/1910, he returned to Scotland around 1912 / 1914 and sailed to Australia again shortly after. 3. ALBERT AMOS HOWES, JOHN ARTHUR HOWES & ROBERT ANDERSON HOWES (all sons of Frederick Golden Howes) all arrived in Sydney from Scotland on 20/07/1914, ship unknown. It's a little like a needle in a haystack but any information snippett of information at all would be appreciated. Regards Lorraine Lorraine O'Sullivan Email losa@optusnet.com.au

    1. Re: Deaths at Sea
    2. Sharon McBride
    3. Hi Marie, Have you tried the GRO microfiche for deaths at sea? You can usually find them at Genealogical Societies and LDS research Centres. Being alphabetical surnames lists you don't need the name of ship, you will get that when you order the death certificate. It's worth a try, I found mine there but they were English, returning from Malta where the husbands army regiment was stationed. If it was an English ship you may get lucky. -- Sharon McBride Perth, Western Australia Mailto:mcbride@iinet.net.au Research Interests http://members.iinet.net.au/~mcbride/
