Hi Leanne I cant think of one that supplies all that range of info There is probably more info to be found in libraries than is on the net . NSW State Records has index of assisted migrants to NSW 1844 -1896 on line but you need to access the films to get much from this source and these films arent on line www.records.nsw.gov.au check in publications The Vic PRO has alot of indexes on line too There are 3 volumes of the Log of Logs books that are always worth checking These arent on line . Plus books on shipping arrivals and departures for Sydney , Victorian ports and Tasmania are in my local library Probably the best site to start with is www.cyndieslist.com for Australia and check out what about for passenger arrivals / shipping info bye Marg Morters Beautiful Central Coast of NSW Australia

    2. Mick
    3. Looking for a passenger list and date of arrival in Australia(Perth I understand) of a ship called SS Berrima from London in about 1924/1925. Looking for any details of my Uncle , JOHN WILLIAM HARLEY aged about 17. He was a I believe a carpenter and came as a assisted immigrant. Also looking to see if he was alone when he made this trip as he was a very young boy to go to the other side of the world on his own. He never went back home till he was about 60 and then warned my father not to go back to the "old mother land" as he would not know anybody. Thanks for any help that the list can give me in this matter. Michael Harley, Brisbane Australia.

    2. RON HARPER
    3. This is my first posting, and is the only interest I have. My GGGrandfather, John Harper, CAME FREE on board the first sailing in 1820. I know many names of those on board from the 1828 census, but I need more to locate his roots in UK. His father was said to be a Colonel in the British Army and John is said to have been born in Chelsea. Does anyone know for sure whether a passenger list exists, or not? Does anyone have any clues about the Military connection? I have done so much work on my tree in Australia and am frustrated by this brick wall. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. 3. Hi Listers, I am new to the list and am hoping some one can help me. I am trying to locate the ship that my ancestors arrived in Australian on and then the ship that bought them to Tasmania. The following family came from India to Australia....but I cant find a ship with them listed. I am looking for: Joseph Archer ALDRED b. C1839 in England but married 1864 in India. Lucy Elizabeth ALDRED (nee Conwell/Cornwell) Children (born in India) George ALDRED b. 1865 (about 13yrs) Ada Elizabeth Ann ALDRED b. 1868 (about 10 years) David Philip ALDRED b. 1872 (about 6 years) Edward Frederick ALDRED b. 1873 (about 5 years) Joseph C. ALDRED b. 1874 (about 4 years) William David ALDRED b. 1876 ( about 2 years) Charlotte Amelia ALDRED b. 1878 in Coonoar Hedy, East India The first child born in Tasmania was in 1880 so hence they must have came over between 1878 & 1880. I can tell you 4 of the above children married in Tasmania but as for the others I don't know as yet or died in transit or before getting on board. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 1. [AUS-IMM-SHIPS] Why isn't great granny on the passenger list?
    2. Sharon McBride
    3. Hi All, Hoping for ideas here. Our great grandmother Maria Mary Wallace came to South Australia (according to her death certificate) at about 18 years of age, about 1858. Facts I know are that her father's name was James Wallace & an Anne Wallace was a witness at her wedding in 1864 (I am assuming that Anne may have been a sister). I know Maria was Catholic and also from her death certificate that she was born in Westmeath, Ireland. I cannot find Maria's arrival - BUT - A Mr James Wallace, his wife Mary & children Anne, James, John & Thomas arrived on the Nugget in 1858. This family was from Westmeath, Ireland & their religion is given as Catholic but no sign of my Maria Wallace on board. Maria's age at this time would fit well as to her being the eldest child & also another clue is that after her marriage, some of the names she chose for her children were - James, Mary Anne, John & Thomas. Other children's names have a connection to her husband's family. Do you think this may all be coincidence? Does anyone have any ideas that may help? I was wondering if there was a limit to the number of children in a family group allowed to apply for assisted passage (had a feeling I read this somewhere). Any suggestions on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Sharon -- Sharon McBride Perth, Western Australia Mailto:mcbride@iinet.net.au Research Interests http://members.iinet.net.au/~mcbride/
