Shes mentioned in Symes 'Arrivals and Departures , Victorian Ports' as being of 1274t , master was H J McPHERSON, carried 400 gov immigrants and was quarantined . departed for Bombay 15 Feb 1855 no pass or what the journey might have been like (they were not convicts!) Far to late to have been convicts , and also what might have happened to them in Australia? Abit hard to tell just from indexes . Was this family from Wolverhampton ? No record of any marriage to 1905 in WA records > Can anybody tell me please whether there are searchable lists of settlers entering Australia. There certainly are . Before c 1924 such were a State function so if anyone arrived in Sydney NSW , Melbourne, Victoria then records would be kept in that State. There are indexes to assisted migrant arrivals to both states on line . Victoria also had some unassisted indexes on line There are some passenger arrivals to Western Australia but only for around 1910/1 The Western Australian Genealogical Society has recently published a CD of passenger arrivals from abt 1895. I have traced my Uncle, John William Harley arrival in Australia to the SS Berrima which arrived in Fremantle WA on the 17/6/1925. He is only 17 years old and on his own. I suspect that he may have been sponsored by Dr. Barnardo's children's home in the UK. I am trying to find a passenger list of the ship to see if there were a lot of unaccompanied children aboard, does anybody have a passenger list or a photo of this ship or any advise where I may obtain same. Thanks Michael Harley, Brisbane Australia.
Hi, Does anyone have an immigration/shipping list for the ship the" Chybassa" that arrived in Aust in 1884, i think it's first port of call was Brisbane, Qld and then Rockhampton, Qld on April 8th 1884.. JAMES SALTER and his wife, MARY ANN (born HANNABUS) travelled from Devon in England to Tasmania in 1825 on the ship 'Harvey', accompanied by their three children. They were free settlers going to join James' uncle GEORGE SALTER who had been a 2nd Fleet convict. I would like to know something about the ship 'Harvey' but there seems to be little or no information on her. Would be grateful if anyone who has researched her would contact me. Thank you - new member in South Africa, Ivy Trott.

Hi Listers, I am new to the list and am hoping some one can help me. I am trying to locate the ship that my ancestors arrived in Australian on and then the ship that bought them to Tasmania. The following family came from India to Australia....but I cant find a ship with them listed. I am looking for: Joseph Archer ALDRED b. C1839 in England but married 1864 in India. Lucy Elizabeth ALDRED (nee Conwell/Cornwell) Children (born in India) George ALDRED b. 1865 (about 13yrs) Ada Elizabeth Ann ALDRED b. 1868 (about 10 years) David Philip ALDRED b. 1872 (about 6 years) Edward Frederick ALDRED b. 1873 (about 5 years) Joseph C. ALDRED b. 1874 (about 4 years) William David ALDRED b. 1876 ( about 2 years) Charlotte Amelia ALDRED b. 1878 in Coonoar Hedy, East India The first child born in Tasmania was in 1880 so hence they must have came over between 1878 & 1880. I can tell you 4 of the above children married in Tasmania but as for the others I don't know as yet or died in transit or before getting on board. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you everybody for being so helpful. I will be off on my endeavour now searching for these illusive relatives and the ship they arrived on. My family must be magicians as I'm beginning to believe some relatives actually just appeared out of thin air and didn't need a ship for travel. ha- ha. leanne : )
