Hi Listers I would be so grateful if SKS could do a look up for me in records of trans Tasman shipping. I have most of the details but need the ages of the O'Hara family. Ship Omeo Year 1864 Departed Melbourne 4 Feb. 1864 Port of Arrival Port Chalmers NZ Passenger name O'Hara, Mrs, Mary Ann, infant and O'Hara C. Many thanks Midge
Dear List, I am a new subscriber trying to locate the arrival of my father-in-law's grandparents in Cooktown from Scotland in late 1885. Are there Shipping Lists that I can look up ? If so where are they held ? Thank you, Jan Hawcroft Sydney
Hi We believe that my great aunt Ellen Susan (nee Stuttard) and her husband James A. Sheahan emigrated to Australia shortly after they were married in 1916. However, when they travelled is unknown to us and likewise where they ended up in Australia. We have no record of them since. I'd be very pleased to hear from anyone who has any information or who can direct me where to look for these records. Kind regards: Chris
Hi Is there SKS out there with access to the shipping list for the OMEGA which sailed to SA in 1867 or thereabouts, I am looking for Michael FORRESTALL and any family he may of had with him. TIA Robyn

FORWARDED BY ADMIN -----Original Message----- From: Gordon Barlow [mailto:barlow@candw.ky] Sent: Thursday, February 28, 2002 3:02 AM To: AUS-IMMIGRATION-SHIPS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: "Samuel Babington" and "Hope" John STILLARD is reported to have left England (probably London) in 1840 on "Samuel Babington", arriving at Hobson's Bay on 14th or 18th January 1841. Maria LADSON and her brother Alfred are reported to have emigrated on "Hope" (probably from London) on 30 March 1855, arriving "Melbourne" 8 July 1855. I am about to go into Google to look for those ships, but in the meantime I would be glad to hear from anyone who has access to passenger lists who could tell me whether other individuals of those names were on the same voyages. Related surnames back in London included: LORD, FISH, OWEN, RICHARDS, SALTON, TAYLOR, and possibly BOATMAN. Thanks very much for any help. Gordon Barlow
hello listers, Im new to this list. I've been on others but now it's time to narrow my search down. I discovered today that my Donald BOWIE, who had emigrated to Australia from Sutherland Scotland, had at least one son who lived in Geelong. If Donald emigrated to that area of Australia somewhere around 1898 or 1899 (maybe later) what port would he have arrived at? Where would I find a list for that time frame rather than a list of ship names? thanks to all Sue
Hi Is there sks out there who can help with FORRESTALL who came to South Australia in 1865. There was possibly Michael FORRESTALL and his wife (name unknown) There may have been a daughter and son with them. What we do know is there was an infant born at sea. The infant was named Kate FORRESTALL. Catholic archives have the birth at sea as May 1865. TIA Robyn
Hi! I am searching for information on the arrival and departure to Australia(probably Melbourne) of A Polish gentleman in the late 1920's. His name was DAVID STEINITZ.He married in Melbourne in 1929. He /and his wife MARIE ELLEN(nee O'MEARA) left sometime after, Destination, Mexico? or elsewhere. He was born in Poland, but had deserted from the army so it was probable that they didn't return to that country. Unless he changed his surname. Please do not tell me that. Thanks. Helen Mcnamara.

Hi Listers, I have been told that the ship that my grandfather came out to Australia on "Delgany",was a fully rigged 909 ton vessel. The year was 1852. Could anyone describe this type of ship in more detail? Was it a sailing ship, or sail and steam? Does anyone have an illustration of a ship such as this? I need this information for a Family History which I am compiling. Thanks in advance, Hilda.
Hi everyone, This is my first posting and this is my interest. My ancestors Johann Gottfried and his wife Johanna Eleonore VORWERK arrived in Port Adelaide from Hamburg on the 14th October 1850 on the 'San Francisco' with their 5 children. I would like to know if anyone has the passenger list (maybe other rellies on her) and/or the specifications of the 'San Francisco' and/or the builder and what happened to her. An image would be a dream. I sincerely hope that someone can help. Pauline KLUSKE (South Australia)
