Hi there Thank you for your information, the Judson I am looking for emigrated to N.S.W in 1935, and it is known that they started a fruit and vegetable wholesale business. It was my wife's grandparents, she visited them in 1946, at Hellensburg, for six months, and then returned to the U/K. She has sine lost contact with any of their off spring. Gordon H Booth
Hi list. I wonder if any body out there can help me, I'm trying to locate the ship on witch my great uncle sailed to Australia, sometime after WW1, but because this was a forced emigration by his family, (for reasons unknown) the information that I have is very little I'm afraid. His name was Harry Hardcastle, born c1901 in Wandsworth London to, Alfred John & Alice Jane Hardcastle. He died in Prahran, Melbourne in 1974. If its possible for anyone to supply any information I would be very grateful indeed. Alan H.
Hello There. Sorry I cannot help you with your enquiry. But as you refer to the Blue Mountains, have you ever come across any one with the surname JUDSON, they went over to Australia about 1935, and I know they lived in the Blue Mountains, at a place called Hellensburge. Can you help Gordon H Booth (Newark, England)

My grandfather was also a fireman/stoker and this makes me think that a good at making steam and disappearing in it ........first of all he left Ireland like yours HOW? is my question her worked on ships as a fireman stoker and then he married my grandmother Priscilla Trengrove Kneebone.........he was Thomas Odonoghue from Old Castle but still he remains a mystery have him down to a certain day and year and almost the time nothing after that ..........trouble is with those who go to see they had the ability to dissapear wherever whenever and we are all like you left wondering .........my dillemmma is did he come through the states to Australia to Tasmania and then onto the coastal ships or did he just appear in a puff of steam........my sympathy's lay with you Wendy I know what it feels like to never know where to look for the mysterious man from the sea Cara_Links
Is there any body on this list that may be able to help me find the ship that Frederick Thomas AVERY and his wife Ellen GOULD arrived in Brisbane on in late 1895 to 1896 I know that my gfather was born in Brisbane in Aug 1896 so they arrived before then and they had been married in Devon in the Sep Qtr 1895 Thanking you Kim
Hi I'm new to the list and hoping that someone might be able to help me. William King and Mary Ann NEWBOUND left London on 5 May 1885 on the Quetta. They arrived in Brisbane on 29 June 1885. Mary Ann had several children from a previous marriage, surname HALLS, and I wonder if anyone has access to the Passenger List for this ship and can confirm for me the names of the HALLS children accompanying them. I have also been told that they were remittance passengers and what I would really like to know is who paid their fare as this would break down my brick wall. Many thanks Elaine Oxford, UK ***************** elainecollier@aol.com Researching: Newbound: London, Surrey, Huntingdon, Cambridge Spinner: London, Kent, Illinois USA Howell: London, Hampshire Roberts: London, Surrey
Hi everyone My g/grandfather THOMAS BOOTY came to Australia (Sydney I think) sometime before his marriage in 1885 in Sydney. I think he was born approx. 1860, Montreal (America) as it states on one of his children's birth certificates. There is also a THOMAS BOOTY in the 1881 census, Norfolk England. A sailor, and something to do with a vessel "RISING SUN" I cannot find out at all how, when or what ship he was on when he came to Australia. His occupation was "fireman" which I have been told is the same as "stoker", which I presume has something to do with the running of a ship. I know he was also involved with ships and these sea, as on his marriage cert. it states his "usual place of residence" as "OF THE SEA". I have been told by my mother (his g/daughter) that he possible died on a french Canadian ship, but whether this is the case, I don't know. Cannot find any record of his death either. This is driving me batty. Is there anyone out there who thinks they may be able to help me or point me in the right direction? Thank you in advance Wendy t
Hi Michelle, I was wondering if you would mind checking your ships passenger list for a Thomas Peter Nielson/Nielsen from Denmark? All I have on him (he is my ggrandfather) is that he married in Sydney in 1882 to Sarah Ann Latham. I have checked passenger lists into Sydney and found nothing. It is possible he may have been a crew member as his occupation on his children's birth certificates are Steward. I spent a few hours at our PROV Wednesday with no result but will keep on tryingf I suppose I wonder if I joined the USA Shipping List they may be able to help just a thought With thanks again Elaine ----- Original Message ----- From: "Judy & Greg Rowe" <ashmarr@powerup.com.au> To: <AUS-IMMIGRATION-SHIPS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, May 09, 2002 5:55 PM Subject: RE: [AUS-IMM-SHIPS] NEED HELP PLEASE!! > Hi Elaine > > Are you talking about a Charles Anderson coming to Australia???? > > If so the Emma Eugenia came to Australia in 1849...Don't know if this helps. > > Judy Rowe > Qld > > ashmarr@powerup.com.au > > -----Original Message----- > From: Elaine Jefferson [mailto:jeffersoneb@patash.com.au] > Sent: Thursday, May 09, 2002 5:32 PM > To: AUS-IMMIGRATION-SHIPS-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: [AUS-IMM-SHIPS] NEED HELP PLEASE!! > > Hi to all on the list > My name is Elaine JEFFERSON and live in Melbourne and I have a question I > hope someone could answer > > I have some Naturalisation papers just come thur and on the papers it shows > the ship that this guy came out on I thought that should be easy enough to > track it thru. Hi All, My grandmother came to Australia with her parents and siblings abt 1910. Family stories say they first went to Toowoomba before settling in Sydney. Lewis Fort Mills Isabella Mills Isabella Fairley Mills age abt 2 Laurence Mills and Robert Mills Any clues how I will find their arrival? The ships name is not exactly known however several names have been offered: Forfarshire, Strathnaver, Strathhavon. Not sure if any of these exsisted, or if they did, if they sailed to Australia around 1910 from England or Scotland. The family came from Greenock, SCT. Thanks listers, Liz ecmaher@optusnet.com.au
Hello Noelene, I know of no connection to Agnes, BUT...... yesterday I found the shipping records of my Bennett family and they include 3 boys I did not know existed. Henry ws 13 in 1878, Edward was 11 and Arthur was 9. I have asked for an 1861 and 1871 census lookup to see if I can get place of birth. If you can link Agnes to one of these boys, we have a connection. Let me know if you have any luck. I'll let you know if I get place of birth for them, then you can narrow the field.
