    1. [AUS-IMM-SHIPS] Ship RENOWN
    2. Sharon McBride
    3. Hi All, I think I may have found my great grandfather James Cullen arriving in Victoria in 1979, aged 15 years on the ship Renown. Does anyone know anything about this ship or possibly have a copy of the passenger list? He seems to have come out alone which would fit into the family story that he left Ireland at the age of 8 years by stowing away on a ship to England. This James Cullen though was not on the Assisted passenger lists though so must have paid his way, or someone did. -- Sharon McBride Perth, Western Australia Mailto:mcbride@iinet.net.au Research Interests http://members.iinet.net.au/~mcbride/

    2. Bryan & Melissa Hallyburton
    3. G'day all, Im hopeing that someone might be able to shed some light on the ship "Carleton". I was told that it left to come to Australia on the 24th March 1857, im unsure from where it left.It arrived in Geelong 11th July 1857. I am looking for information on a family named Hallyburton that arrived then.Their names were Adam and Ann Halyburton, i was told that they arrived here with a daughet named Isabella. They went onto have more children in Camperdown, Australia. I am also looking to see if they brought a son with them named Adam, or if he was born here too. Good luck to all. Melissa & Bryan Hallyburton.

    3. Julia, I'm sorry to correct you but maybe someone has provided you with incorrect information. There were 4 Italian Ligurias on the Atlantic in the 19th and 20th Century but yours was British. She was the 1874-1903 Liguria of Pacific Steam Navigation Company which was transferred to Orient Line Management in 1880. Please contact me if you want the history and photos of her Don Australian Emigrant Ship Service http://freespace.virgin.net/donald.hazeldine/austral.htm This site has been recommended by the National Maritime Museum, as a high quality maritime-related Internet resource. http://www.port.nmm.ac.uk/ROADS/cgi-bin/tempbyhand.pl?query=994641498-18127 ----- Original Message ----- From: juliag <juliag@froggy.com.au> To: <AUS-IMMIGRATION-SHIPS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, June 03, 2002 6:16 AM Subject: Re: [AUS-IMM-SHIPS] AUSTRALIE to Melbourne 1854 > Chris, > > I too, located a ship carrying immigrants from UK in 1889 that was in fact > an Italian vessell - 'Liguria" which arrived in June 1889 at Portland, > Victoria. > > Try the 'ship transcribers guild' on line, this site may be able to give you > some clues, would be intrigued to know what you discover. > > Have a terriffic day! > > Julia > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Higgs Family <higgs@bigpond.net.au> > To: <AUS-IMMIGRATION-SHIPS-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Monday, June 03, 2002 8:27 AM > Subject: [AUS-IMM-SHIPS] AUSTRALIE to Melbourne 1854 > > > > Would anyone have knowledge of the ship Australie which I believe arrived > in > > Melbourne in November 1854 carrying immigrants (I presume Bounty > > Immigrants). > > The name interests me as it is obviously French, and why would a French > ship > > be carrying immigrants to Australia at that time? > > I am searching for a HILL FAMILY (Joseph, Esther,William, James,Charles, > > Louisa, Esther(jnr) David, Mary Ann, Emma and Henry and a couple of > others) > > and I believe they may have been on this ship. > > Any information about the ship and/or passenger list would be very > > appreciated. > > > > Chris. > > > > > > ============================== > > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, > go to: > > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 > > > > > > > ============================== > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 > >

The name interests me as it is obviously French, and why would a French ship be carrying immigrants to Australia at that time? I am searching for a HILL FAMILY (Joseph, Esther,William, James,Charles, Louisa, Esther(jnr) David, Mary Ann, Emma and Henry and a couple of others) and I believe they may have been on this ship. The list provides individuals by surname who traveled to Victoria, giving name, age, dependants etc. Also provides fiche no. so you can obtain copy of passenger transcript. 3. George Tyser's sons, W. H. Tyser and G. W. Tyser, joined the company in 1873 and the firm became known as G. D. Tyser & Co. In the same year the Trevelyan and the Himalaya were sold to Shaw, Saville & Albion but in May 1874 Wm. Pile delivered the Plassey (1764grt) which was the largest sailing ship owned by the company and which also had the highest passenger carrying capacity. To the Australian brokers this high passenger capacity meant only one thing, the ship was destined for the Australia run. ----- Original Message ----- From: "E Owens" <owense@bigpond.com> To: <AUS-IMMIGRATION-SHIPS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, June 03, 2002 7:59 AM Subject: [AUS-IMM-SHIPS] Have no idea !! > Hi listers I would like to know if anyone has any info on a ship called the > "Trevelyan" and when it came to Australia from the UK.
