Hi Steve, As far as I know John Henry Stevenson was a remittance man - his family paid for him to go away. I am still trying to track down more info. His father was a coach builder named John Stevenson but I can't locate his mother as yet. John Henry was born in London according to his death certificate. Is someone able to check immigration records for John Henry Stevenson. The years that would need to be checked are around 1860. I think he was a free passenger as I have checked the online index of assisted immigrants from the state records office with no luck. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
