    3. Hi Ron, I am not sure of the whereabouts of William and Sarah Moore prior to their arrival in Cowra. Both are buried under a very large headstone in the Cowra cemetery. According to their death certificates William died in 1873 although the headstone says 1875. Sarah died in 1890. Their children does include the Allan, Charles and John Moore that you listed and also includes a William (jun) a David and a Sarah born in 1835 before the family left Ireland. I am sure Alison has much more detail than I have of the family. Regards Phil Moore

    3. Hi Alison, Thank you for your reply. I would appreciate any information on either William and Sarah or their descendants and will send to you off line the information that I have already gathered. It was 12 months ago that I visited the Cowra Family History Group, but unfortunately came away with very little information on this family. For the benefit of others on the list, William and Sarah Moore together with Richard and Margaret Moore travelled from County Cavan as bounty immigrants on the "Champion" in 1840. Richard and William were cousins. Richard and Margaret, my gg grandparents, settled in the Canberra area and many of their descendants still reside in the district. Phil Moore Canberra

    3. Hi Phil, I would be interested to know a little more about your William and Sarah Moore. There is a William Moore, late of Cowra, in my family tree. He married Elega Elizabeth Rush, a niece of my grandmother Margaret Norton (nee Rush). I haven't had an opportunity to search for our William Moore's ancestors but will see what I can find. The given name Sarah also rings a bell. Were William and Sarah Moore husband and wife or brother and sister? Cowra is also my birthplace. I spent the first 30 years of my life there. 1. Please Help. Daniel Orchard Pre 1851 Victoria
    2. dive
    3. Hi All, I'm calling on your experince with this one. I have a Daniel Orchard in the family, he is the first male in the family in Australia, he was born in London, England (marriage certificate) around 1816 (death certificate, but I don't think this is correct, I'm guessing around the 1830's sometime). He married Emily Abigail Sullivan in Warrnambool, victoria in 1851, she was an irish famina orphan. After being married, they travelled across victoria to Gippsland and settled in Stratford and never moved again, they had 12 children while there and are now resting in Stratford cemetery. My mystery is this, How did he get here ? I have not found him on shipping indexs yet. I can tell you that - he was a carpenter by trade. - he was educated, he could write very nicely (several certificates of his children confirm it's his hand writing over a 30 year peroid). - the first trace of him in Australia is his marriage certificate in 1851 Warrnambool, Victoria. - I have found several other Orchard families that arrive after him but have no connection. I'm still learning how to do this, so any advice you can offer, I would love. Thanks in advance Michael Grocott.
