Yes, mine did in 1966 on the "Maryborough" from Greenock to Brisbane. No other stops on the way. Also from Derrygonnelly, Co. Fermanagh. Perhaps it was not that unusual. Hello Julia. Thanks for your message. Yes, that is the family at that time. I have all the Census details and all BMD's for UK. Percy definitely did not come here with his wife and 3 daughters, I have the passenger list and he is not on it. Dear listers, I just wrote the Mariners group regaring a query and realised I probably should have posted it here instead. I am interested in the ports of departure for the Rodell Bay, 1878 to Moreton Bay. A very kind lister has informed me that the Rodell Bay departed Greenock on 6 June 1878 for Moreton Bay. I have several ancestors on this ship (McNally's) that lived in Fermanagh, Ireland prior to migration. Was it common for the Irish to travel to a Scottish port such as Greenock to travel to Australia, or did the Rodell Bay also dock in Ireland or England to collect them? Does anyone have any clues or info? Thanks in advance, Maureen. _________________________________________________________________ Advertisement: Its simple! Hello Bob, While searchingthe English bdm's i have found that maybe your Percy was actually married in 1895 he was born 1874. There can't be many Percy Harold R Benson's surely. He was born at West Ham and married there as well. Now if this is the case I don't think he would jumped ship, maybe they came together as Mr & Mrs Benson, lets face it his name is a long one for someone to write in a ships passenager list. Keep looking. Julia Bob Cunning <rcun9703@bigpond.net.au> wrote: Hello Jan, thanks for your message. I had already looked in NAA, but there are no lists of names, only series. Hi Bob SA State records have all passenger lists indexed, you will need to log in and obtain a User ID. http://www.archives.sa.gov.au/ The site seems to muck up with some anti viruses so I turn mine off. They will not give you the name of the ship but the number eg 52/?? will tell you the month and year. Then go to SAGS http://www.saghs.org.au/shipping.htm and you need to go through the alphabet, the ship will be listed with the same number above. you can then check The Ships list site mentioned or http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~dicummings/Images/Ships/Adelaide1852onwards.htm I know this sounds long winded but will only take about 10 minutes. I have found all mime this way. Good Luck Gayle Mollymook Beach NSW

I have a couple of queries and I hope someone can shed some light on them. In 1820 the ship "Almorah" left Sydney bound for Madras with contingents of the 1st, 17th, 24th, 30th, 34th, 46th, 53rd, 59th, 69th, and 89th regiments to rejoin their Corps. My question is would these regiments have been escorting a large amount of convicts to Aus or bringing supplies over. It seems a large amount of regiments leaving at one time. My next question is I have a Mary Ann Griffiths who in 1847 was a Stewardess aboard the Steamer 'Sovereign' which shipwrecked while travelling between Brisbane and Amity Point. Were there many female stewards at that early a time? I hope I haven't confused anyone with my questions. I would appreciate if anyone has information about James Hart who arrived at Port Phillip as an Assisted Immigrant on the George Fife/Fyffe in July 1841 age 21 years. My mother's ggrandparents were James Hart and Eleanor. James Hart on the 1841 Census at North Shore Parish, Willoughby, Sydney is almost certainly mine. There is a death record for James Hart in 1861 father John, Mother Frances, Cassilis. I've applied for this record but the timeframe is correct. Any help would be appreciated. Marj - Boomerang Beach

That's not nice, MargM and it's Easter as well. I guess the beautiful NSW Central Coast isn't so beautiful at the moment .... ,,, with new people coming on line every day there is always the hope that one of them will provide the missing link to Percy Benson. I know I lived with that hope for my g.grandmother from Germany and it was a chance query from another lister after a year or so that made the connection for me. Be nice. Happy Easter to everyone. Hi everyone Wonder if anyone can assist in finding GGGrandfather John LEWIS. Unsure when he came to Aust (assume Sydney as that is where he lived and died) but from details on death certificate (how long in colony etc) think it was about 1857. He was born in Wiltshire and would have been abt 23 years of age. He married Ann WARD in 1860 so assume he came either alone or with family - that I can't work out. His father was also John and still have him living in England up to 1881 so think John the younger came out on his own. Have the following from the NSW Records - any suggestions? Possibly on the Tantivy - does anyone have access to any passenger lists from this time at all? Will check the microfilm if no one has anything easy to get.
