Jenny and Netta, Hate to be the 'bearer of bad tidings', but ... Many Marriage Certificates (where the event was registered NSW or Qld) dating from the period prior to 1890s do not provide the names of the couple's parents, as it was not required/mandatory at the time. Certificates from the 1850s/1860s, in particular, are 'lacking' in this regard. Naturalization records, although often of real assistance, must also be taken with a 'grain of salt'. 'Port of departure' eg. Hamburg was often given rather than 'Birthplace', or the nearest 'metropolitan centre' of any real size was given rather than the little villages where many of our German forefathers were born/had lived. Or, in my forefather's case, for whatever reason, the information supplied by him was completely false. He lied about his birthplace/age and stated he was a widower with four children when, in fact, his wife was alive (albeit estranged from him) and 9 of their 12 children were living at the time of his application! Recently we found that the ORIGINAL of our GGrandparents marriage entry DID have their Parents names & occupations, and the young couples signatures too ! The copy we purchased from NSW rec's dept did not include these bits of info, left off by someone ???? As they were married in a church (1890) @ Gosford my cousin rang Univ. of Sydney History Dept , on a hunch , and they had the original registers with all the details. A lesson here is not to take things at face value or no for an answer.
