I had excellent results on the "alte Deutsche", a few years ago, with some of the senior members of the Deutsche Turn Verein - German Club, 416 Vulture Street, East Brisbane - 07 3391 2434. One or two of the folks there at the time had translators tickets. The could read the script which was in vogue, before Uncle Adolph changed the rules, in about 1937. When we were trying to translate our old documents, letters & diaries we asked a local lady who was teaching German in a school and between her and a very old lady who had spoken German in the home for the first 20-30 years of her life they managed to work out most of it. But the translation site on the web is a good starting point if you've got no other alternatives.
