Howdy Kay, I don't know if this helps, but I have found that, while the folks running the German institutions may demonstrate superior efficiency, they don't exactly move like blitzen. Could be that Australia doesn't exactly loom large on their radar screens. I recently had some success with research material from the Hamburg Geschicte Museum, but it took me nine months and several polite e-mail prompts to get a response. I have relearned the twin virtues of patience and persistence from the experience. The internet may have an e-mail address for the Hanover Stadtarchiv.
