Married 1847 Offenbach Hesse, Margaretta Grosz, born c. 1820 Darmstadt Hesse. Clemens arrived in Sydney in 1856 per "Caesar Godeffroy" with his wife and family. Occupation: carpenter. Children: Joseph b. c. 1848 Germany 2. Louisa b. c. 1850 Germany d. 1915 Casino m. 1880 Grafton to Andrew McDougall. 3. Maria b. c. 1852 Offenbach Hesse m. 1875 Grafton to John James. 4. Anna b. 1855 Offenbach Hesse m. 1874 Grafton Frederick Moreton. 5. Elizabeth Rosa b. 1858 Grafton d. 1953 Ballina m. 1896 to William Clement. 6. John b. 1860 Grafton d. 1882 Lismore. Both Clemens and his wife Margarette died in tragic circumstances, and in both cases coronial enquiries were held. Clemens was found drowned in North Street Grafton (see CCE 29/3/1864) while Margaretta was burned to death in a fire which started in "suspicious circumstances".
