    3. Thanks for your reply Pauline, It is interesting to learn of the Clausthal-Zellarfeld immigrant involvement in the early mining industry in Australia. Particularly as they were skilled miners from an area which has a base metal mining tradition going back to the thirteenth century. My main thrust at present is to try to get a list of the passengers which disembarked from the Godeffroy, when she visited Adelaide early in 1849. Regards Bob -----Original Message----- From: Melanie Campbell [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, 15 April 2002 7:42 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [AUS-GERMAN] Re: AUS-GERMAN-D Digest V02 #88 Hi Bob, You responded to my posting a few days ago. The Ballhausen's I am researching did come from Clausthal. However, they came to Australia via the ship "Pauline", which arrived in Adelaide on 9 December 1849. They left Germany after their father and husband, Carl (a miner) died. Caroline married William Norton in Burra in 1850, and he was also a miner. I do not have the exact details with me at the present time, though I suspect this information is not what you were looking for. Regards, Melanie. _________________________________________________________________ Join the world's largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com ==== AUS-GERMAN Mailing List ==== For your Aus-German resources go to http://www.ainsleehooper.com/germlinks.htm ============================== To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237
