Members of the list have been very helpful, and offered good advice. I have been very fortunate too, as the Mecklenburg records have been microfilmed by the LDS church, so I am able to look at parish registers and census records. I have also learned to read the old text (mostly, anyway) and now know some old German terms for illnesses and occupations. Perhaps you could try the Hessen list if you are not already on it-someone there may offer to help or know a good researcher in the area. Regards Leonie PS Is the family you are tracing the SCHARKIES? We have communicated about these before, and I have been contacted by 2 other Scharkie descendants in the past month or so. ==== AUS-GERMAN Mailing List ==== For your Aus-German resources go to http://www.ainsleehooper.com/germlinks.htm ============================== To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237
