    3. As part of my ongoing project I am seeking to learn about foods that our ancestors ate and enjoyed. This might include recipes or just meals. For example my wife's family always had cornflakes and met wurst on bread for tea on Sunday night. Note that in Queensland they call their evening meal 'tea' while Victorians call it 'dinner'. I have produced a small book of German recipes but they all come form the USA. I know that our grandmothers actually adapted German recipes to the Australian situation and what they did in the USA was not what was done here. Some years ago I acquired a book of met wursts and other sausage items. I remember one thing we had as kids and I hated was bread and meat fat loaded with salt and pepper. I also remember how my grandmother would spend hours making melon and whatever jam. She used lemons, oranges, grapes and anything else she could find to go with her melon jam.
