Forgive me if this message appears twice but my address book has two addresses and I don't realise which one to use. I am looking for German connections with the following. Carl Fredrich OTTO (born about 1823 at Stakyoy) and his wife Dorothea Luise STRASSBURG (born about 1817 at Drense, Ukermark), came to Moreton Bay (Brisbane) with their two children, Wilhelmina Johanna Louisa who was 11 and Wilhelm Frederich August who was 10, on the 'Susanne Godeffroy' , berthing on 6th September, 1865. Wilhelm was born at Steiglitz, Angermunde. Carl Friedrich MULLER and his wife, Johanna Amalia SCHMIDT arrived with their two children, Ida Anna (5-1/2 years old) and Carl who was one month old on 9th February 1865 on the Beausite to Moreton Bay (Brisbane). Ida Anna was born at Sternhagen, Angermunde. Johan JORDAN (born approx 1808)and his wife, Christine BRANDENBURG (born approx 1865), with their children, Friederike (20), Marie (17), Gottfried (15), Friedrich (12) and Carl (9) arrived on 10th February 1866 on the 'Johan Cesar' also to Moreton Bay (Brisbane). Friederike was born at Ludzhul? (spelling - hard to read on certificate) in Brandenburg approx 1846. Herman Albert Adolph LOHDE, seemingly arrived somehow as I have no trace of his arrival. He was born approx 1839 in Grim, Brandenburg, having parents named Johann Lohde and Johanna Boust. He arrived in Australia approximately 1866 . These people all lived at Zillman's Waterholes in Brisbane until at least 1886 then the addresses became Zillmere. They all appear to have to come from the same area in Brandenburg. I would like to find some German history if anyone knows. I have the complete passenger lists of those three particular trips, so if anyone wants a lookup done I can do so. 'Beausite' - leaving Hamburg 23 Oct 1864 and arriving Moreton Bay 9 Feb 1865. 'Johan Cesar' leaving Hamburg 12 Oct 1865 and arriving Moreton Bay 10 February 1866. 'Susanne Godeffroy' leaving Hamburg 6 May, 1865 and arriving Moreton Bay 6 September 1865. Kind regards, Margaret
Thankyou Robin for the Schrader lookup, I wonder if GSV in Melb has a copy....anyone know ? regards Yvonne M

Hi Alison The Biographical Index of South Australians 1836-1885 has an entry for a Ferdinand Habermann who arrived in South Australia in 1866 on the 'Adolph'. No further details are given. There are several other entries for Habermanns but none with the parents Ferdinand and Anna. Giday Warren, Do you have an "Atma" in your family surname list. I have a good friend of that name, who married Christine FUSS. My folks are Niedersachsens from around Clausthal-Zellarfeld. They lived in Lerbach, which is about 30km from C - Z. I have copies of some of their emigration papers which I obtained from the Bergampt Archiv (Mine Warden's Archives) in Clausthal. This a good source of information on folks who left the area in the late 1840's, because the Mine Warden administered a scheme, funded by the British Government, to assist the impoverished miners and other skilled persons to emigrate from there to the British colonies. When I visited the Archiv some years ago, I was surprised to find that there are many records there, in manila folders, all tied up in Kingdom of Hanover purple tape. My Great Great Grandfather Gottlieb Friedrich Moritz, with his wife and family arrived in Adelaide on the Godeffroy, early in 1849. Luke, Don't know if this is the least expensive method, but I obtain a Bank Draft from my local bank, at a cost of $15.00 (Fee & Stamp Duty) and then just send the Draft per 'snail mail' with a covering letter. Have never had any difficulties, at either end. However, this is almost what your 'bill' comes to ..... Hi Ron My Shulz family do not have a 'c' in the name, so unless there has been a misspelling of name along the line, at this stage I don't think our Shulz/Schulz are connected. As far as the Geyers are concerned. Unfortunately the only information I have on Auguste Emilie Henrietta Geyer is that she was born abt 1832 in location unknown, and married Johann Christian Friedrich Shulz in Kooringa Church, District of TMu, South Australia on 7th March 1850. I also have a list of their children, all Shulz. Many thanks Kath ----- Original Message ----- From: Ron Blair <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, January 20, 2002 4:03 PM Subject: Re: [AUS-GERMAN] Roll Call > H Katherine > > Not the same ones you are researching, but there could be a connection > somewhere perhaps. > I have the following sleeping in the branches of our tree: > > Gustav Adolph GEYER born about 1859 and married Anna Elisabeth SCHIRMER. > > Johann Gottfried Andreas Schulz married Johanna Auguste Caroline HENSCHKE > > and, Johann Gotthilf Christian SCHULZ born 22.9.1814 married to Maria > Elisabeth ROTHE born 27.11.1827. > > Any links???? > > Regards > Ron > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Katherine & Hamish Johnstone" <[email protected]> > To: <[email protected]> > Sent: Sunday, January 20, 2002 3:27 PM > Subject: [AUS-GERMAN] Roll Call > > > > Hi Listers > > > > Wishing all of you a belated happy new year! H Katherine Not the same ones you are researching, but there could be a connection somewhere perhaps. I have the following sleeping in the branches of our tree: Gustav Adolph GEYER born about 1859 and married Anna Elisabeth SCHIRMER. Johann Gottfried Andreas Schulz married Johanna Auguste Caroline HENSCHKE and, Johann Gotthilf Christian SCHULZ born 22.9.1814 married to Maria Elisabeth ROTHE born 27.11.1827. Any links????
