    2. Jackie Callinan
    3. Could someone explain the difference between a sponsor and a godfather please? In my family, the church records show the children and sponsors had the same christian name. However in "Land of Milk and Honey" in a letter home, the godfather mentioned is a different person from the sponsor. I thought the sponsor and godparent were the one and same. Perhaps not? Many thanks Jackie

    3. Hi List Tried 3 times to send this to Judy, but she received the email but not the message, says it is a problem with IE, one that has rarely happened before. So please excuse me using the list to try and get this to her: Can't understand what happened with the messages as they were in my sent Items. However here is a copy of them. thanks for your idea of Graham Journay's Australian surname List I'll give it a try. The First Families Site wasn't any good, except for her 2nd marriage. I haven't had much luck with it. I tried the Australian Surnames and I didn't find the Hoff name listed but found someone by the name of HOFF looking for someone else so I've emailed them. Who knows what may turn up. Yes I do remember who you are, and you've been fantastic with the help you've given me. Hopefully while in Adelaide I will get to SAGHS, as my plan to get to State Library in Melbourne the following week has been scuttled by other plans. We live at Sunbury, which is out past Tullamarine airport, Eddie used to work for Ansett until their "crash". However that is another story. Thanks again. Kay
