    3. Thank you Scott and Lesley for explaining to me the Exile ships scheme. It was interesting read from you, Lesley, the rules applied to the Exiles per the Hashemy. 20 pounds was a huge amount of money to apply for a Conditional Pardon in those days, no wonder Philip Reeves did not apply but George Smith (Reeves) about to be married considered it worth while. Regards, Joan

    3. Joan I have been reading your emails and need to ask a question of you I have a William Reeves in my family tree that I have never been able to satisfactorily identify when He came to Australia or why. I have searched convict records no connection The George Smith Alias William Reeves may be a reason why I have not been able to trace the guy (outside Chance any way) Ellen(Helen)Reeves was accompanied by William Reeves (son) & Jessie Reeves (daughter) The Dates appear to be a close fit as his wife Ellen Reeves came out on the "Northampton" in 1850 and the documents indicate Husband all ready in the Colony Some major issue caused the family split almost on arrival, which has not ever been explained. Ring any bells that may help me Geoff -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Ged & Joan BARRY Sent: Tuesday, 2 September 2008 11:03 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [AUS-CON] Exile ships scheme Thank you Scott and Lesley for explaining to me the Exile ships scheme.
